This album contains photographs and documents about Collier County's elected officials and government-related business and history.  There are a number of documents pertaining to the County's veterans. 

County Seal

Native to the region, the wild turkey was adopted as Collier County's emblem by the Board of County Commissioners at their first meeting held on July 7, 1923.  When the county seat was relocated to East Naples in 1962, the emblem was incorporated into the County seal that was designed by Margaret T. Scott.  Scott was Clerk of Courts from 1959 until 1976.

Town of Everglades Commissioner's meeting minutes of May 4, 1927.  Building ordinance passed restricting new construction in specific town blocks to residential buildings only.  Building permits to be obtained from City Manager.  Frank C. Morgan resigns as City Attorney and is succeeded by Eric M. Donaldson.

First Collier County Sheriff, Captain W.R. Maynard served from 1923 until 1928.  Not long after his appointment by the Governor, he hired his wife Blanche as Deputy Sheriff.

Collier County Sheriff Lewis J. Thorp served from 1928 until 1954.  He was appointed by Governor Martin after Maynard resigned.  Within the first eight months of his term, he brought more than 80 cases before the courts, doubling previous records.

Collier County Sheriff Roy O. Atkins served from 1954 until 1956.  Atkins was appointed Sheriff after Thorp died in office and served the term's remaining two years.

Collier County Sheriff E.A. "Doug" Hendry served from 1956 until 1975.  He had been an officer with the Ft. Myers Police Department.

Collier County Sheriff Aubrey Rogers served from 1975 until 1989.  He joined the CCSO in 1957 from the Ft. Myers Police Department where he had met Doug Hendry.  When Hendry resigned due to illness in 1975, Rogers was appointed to complete his term of office.  Rogers ran for Sheriff and won three more elections until he retired.

First Collier County Tax Collector Charles Miles Collier served from 1923 until 1925.  C.M. Collier was County founder and namesake Barron Gift Collier's older brother.  He was later elected to the Florida State Legislature House of Representatives.

Collier County Tax Collector John Henry Fears served from 1925 until 1927.

Collier County Tax Collector Charles H. Collier served from 1927 until 1953.

Collier County Tax Collector A.P. Ayers served from 1953 until 1981.

Collier County Tax Collector Guy L. Carlton served from 1981 until 2008.

Charcoal drawing of Clerk of Courts Edmond "Ed" Scott.  He was appointed by Governor Doyle E. Carlton in 1932.  Scott died in office on January 13, 1959.  His wife Margaret was appointed to complete his term.

Charcoal drawing of Clerk of Courts Margaret T. Scott.  Scott was appointed Clerk by Judge Lynn Gerald on January 14, 1959 following her husband's death.  She was elected Clerk in 1960 and held office until she retired in 1976.

Collier County voter registration certificate issued to Equilla Weeks on February 28, 1942.  She is listed as a 47 year old housewife who is 5' tall.  Certificate signed by Tommie Barfield, Collier County Supervisor of Registration.

Equilla Gulden (1895-1963) married John Weeks on April 12, 1912.
