Meece Ellis Sr. worked for the Barron Collier Company in Everglades on the first dredge they bought to build the Tamiami Trail.

Collier County Board of County Commissioners proclamation designating Sunday, April 24, 1988 as the 60th anniversary celebration of the Tamiami Trail.  The Tamiami Trail officially opened in the State of Florida on April 25, 1928.
