An interesting figure in the early history of Naples, Dr. Earl Baum (1887-1976)  made his first visit here in February 1922, lured by an article he read in an issue of Field and Stream magazine.

Each winter for the next 25 years Dr. Baum and his wife, Agnes, returned to Naples to fish, hunt and photograph the wildlife that abounded in the area.  They became permanent residents in 1946.
