Donor provided caption "This picture taken by 9th green, Old Nine Hole Golf Course.  The old pump house shown with banana patch in rear.  My special family.  December 1925.  Mr. & Mrs. Robert R. Fohl Sr. with L to R: Ruth Kathleen Fohl, Margaret Jane Fohl and Robert R. Fohl, Jr.  We arrived in Naples from Indianapolis, Ind. in December 1925 and returned to Indianapolis in June 1932.  Ruth graduated from Florida State in 1934 and Robert Jr. from Butler U. in 1936."

Ed Crayton sold 220 acres to Allen Joslin in 1930 to build the Beach Club Golf Course and Hotel.  This clubhouse, seen here from late 1931, is on the site now occupied by the Beach Club Hotel.  There was a ladies locker room, mens locker room and a cocktail bar lounge on the first floor.  On the second floor, there was a large room used for meetings and dancing.

Donor provided caption " Jane Fohl at sand box, 3rd tee - old golf course winter 1929-30.  Behind sand box is Dwight Tomlinson, brother of Eddie.  There were no wooden golf tees.  Sand box divided in two parts.  One part beach sand.  Other part a water bucket.  Tee was made of wet sand.  Towel also on all boxes on each tee."
